What we know

Fear The Timeloop is now available on Xbox Series X|S. The release includes Xbox Play Anywhere, achievements, and cloud saves, bringing a third-person survival horror game built around a strict 15-minute limit to the platform.

Players take the role of Sheriff James Cooper, who wakes up in Saint Heritage Hospital with a severe abdominal wound. Blood loss will kill him unless he can stay alive, at which point the loop begins again. The countdown is not simply a fail state: James’ remaining time and health are treated as a single survival resource.

Blood bags, first-aid kits, bandages, and other medical items can heal damage as well as add precious minutes. That makes every supply a tactical choice: use it to get through a dangerous area, save it for a likely fight, or spend time investigating a room that could reveal another route.

Knowledge carries over, inventory does not

When James dies, he returns to the start of the current chapter, marked by a VHS tape he has found. The game does retain part of the player’s progress, however. Notes, map data, and unlocked abilities carry across attempts, while the inventory does not.

That structure makes learned information part of progression. Remembering a code, finding a hidden path, or gaining an ability can reshape the next run, even as players need to rethink their available resources. The game’s description says early loops focus on understanding the situation, locating medical supplies, and avoiding the hospital’s creatures, while later attempts can uncover fresh uses and routes within familiar areas.

Saint Heritage Hospital is designed as an interconnected setting rather than a run of separate levels. Some paths are blocked and some spaces cannot be reached initially, but players can return as they uncover routes and unlock abilities. Its structure combines nonlinear exploration, Metroidvania-inspired elements, and survival horror.

Deputy Sheriff Rose Watters is James’ only ally inside the hospital. Conversations between the two, along with choices made during the loop, reveal more about the facility’s secrets and the events that brought James there. The game also features branching dialogue that responds to early decisions and the route taken through the loop.

PlayWay S.A. is listed as the publisher. For the Xbox release, the team says it focused on optimization and precise, natural gamepad controls—particularly important in a game where every second is a survival resource.
