Gran Turismo 7’s Free Spec IV Update Arrives in October and December
Polyphony Digital will split Spec IV into two releases featuring circuits, 12 cars, new online challenges, and Family Mode.

What we know
Gran Turismo 7 will receive its free Spec IV update in two parts in 2026. The first release is set for October, followed by the second in December, with Polyphony Digital splitting the update because of the volume of content planned.
The studio is positioning Spec IV as the start of its celebrations ahead of the original Gran Turismo’s 30th anniversary in 2027. Across both patches, the game will receive new circuits, cars, competitive options, and features intended for a wider range of players.
Two circuits across the two updates
Japan’s Sportsland SUGO will arrive in the October update. The circuit is known for its elevation changes, flowing layout, and Dunlop bridge.
December will bring back Autumn Ring, a circuit with a long connection to the series that first appeared in the original Gran Turismo. Its addition to Gran Turismo 7 will give newer players their first opportunity to experience the track.
Spec IV will add 12 cars in total across its two releases. Polyphony Digital has not yet identified the vehicles that will be included.
New online challenges and progression features
The update will introduce Online Drift Trials, online events focused on drift control, precision, and style. Shuffle Races are also on the way, bringing randomized conditions to online competition and asking drivers to adjust their strategies.
Other announced additions include new Driving Experiences, an expanded Car Viewer, new progression elements, and Concierge, a car-buying feature. The studio will provide further information on these systems later.
Family Mode will launch as part of the December update. Designed to make playing with family and friends more accessible, it will provide an entry point for people with varying levels of driving experience while offering something new for established Gran Turismo 7 players.
Polyphony Digital will reveal more about the October and December updates during Gran Turismo World Series Round 3 in Singapore on October 3, 2026.
