What we know

Twin Swans has announced that Hunter’s Moon will launch exclusively for PlayStation 5. It arrives on October 25 in North America and October 26 in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

The game is a first-person historical narrative folk-horror experience set across one fateful night. Players take the role of Lilith Thorne, an accused woman attempting to flee a 17th-century rural English village, as well as the surrounding forests and moors.

Lilith is pursued by the Witchfinder General, the local magistrate, and a huntsman. Staying alive will require stealth and cunning to evade capture. Her journey also brings her into contact with mummers in folk costumes and villagers worn down by war and misfortune, as the community approaches a breaking point.

Listening as a survival tool

A central feature of Hunter’s Moon is an immersive-theatre-inspired eavesdropping mechanic. By listening to conversations through windows, players can uncover the village’s stories and find help for Lilith’s escape, including warnings, advice, sacred items, and folk songs.

Twin Swans says the setting is rooted in historical realism, while using handcrafted stylised art. The game will feature more than 100 fully voice-acted characters.

Drawing on the history of 17th-century English witch hunts, the game places fear, belief, and human persecution at the heart of its horror. Hunter’s Moon can now be wishlisted through the PlayStation Store.
