Maneater 2 is coming to PS5 in 2027 with a mutation-filled aquatic theme park

What we know

Maneater 2 has been announced for PlayStation 5, with a release planned for later in 2027. Tripwire Interactive and Demiurge Studios gave the sequel its first reveal during a State of Play presentation, confirming a follow-up to the 2020 ShaRkPG.

The sequel moves the action to Neptune’s Kingdom, a private island theme park built around an extravagant take on Ancient Rome. Its luxury attractions sit alongside marine research facilities that have changed the climate in different areas to recreate aquatic biomes from around the world, including arctic and volcanic environments.

Players will control a new man-eating bull shark. The story begins after she is left unattended within the park, and her route to freedom involves eating, exploring, and evolving. The park’s genetic research has also created mutations among its marine wildlife, introducing further threats as well as potential upgrades for the shark to exploit.

A new underwater sandbox

Neptune’s Kingdom is designed as an aquatic space with secrets, routes, currents, and hazards. Above the water are visitors and armed security; below it, the food chain has been disrupted by submerged human threats and evolved predators competing for control of the park.

Trip Westhaven returns as the game’s commentator and conversational companion, once again voiced by Chris Parnell. According to Tripwire, he will track the shark’s movements as the pair uncover Neptune’s Kingdom’s true nature.

Maneater 2 is the first entry in the series being built in Unreal Engine 5. The studio points to underwater lighting that diffuses sunlight, improved NPC behavior across aquatic ecosystems, and more immersive park environments.

The game is set to reach PS5 later in 2027 and can now be wishlisted through the PlayStation Store.
