Once Human Is Now Available on Xbox Series X|S and Launches Day One on Game Pass

Once Human is now available on Xbox Series X|S. The free-to-play multiplayer survival shooter is also joining Xbox Game Pass on day one for its console release, with exclusive benefits for members.

The Xbox version supports cross-play and cross-progression, allowing players to survive with friends on other platforms while keeping their progress. It is also part of Xbox Play Anywhere. According to the announcement, the game remains free of pay-to-win mechanics.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world reshaped by a cosmic substance called Stardust, Once Human casts players as Meta-Humans. They must confront anomalous creatures known as Deviants, establish their own territory, and investigate the conspiracies surrounding the apocalypse.

Xbox features and first-person view

The team says it has optimized the game for Xbox Series X|S with controller integration and 4K resolution. Consoles also receive a first-person perspective option that can be toggled at any time, letting players switch dynamically between first- and third-person views.

Its survival systems extend beyond crafting and building. Players can capture and tame anomalous beings called Deviations, which can assist with both combat and survival. Some offer mobility across difficult terrain, while others can help defend a player's territory.

Game Pass rewards and an October expansion

Xbox Game Pass subscribers can claim an exclusive avatar, a METAPASS Benefit Card —including 300 Star Sources, 30 days of benefits, and trial access to more than 14 outfits— a discount voucher bundle, and Battle Pass XP Cards. Free outfits will also be updated monthly.

The studio has also announced the Ocean Expansion for October, describing it as the game's largest content update to date. The expansion will cover islands, the ocean surface, and the deep sea, featuring elements such as lighthouses, ghost ships, and mechanical behemoths. It will also let players build an Exclusive Sea Fortress, beginning with a wooden raft and upgrading it into a mobile maritime sanctuary.
