Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO will test cross-play after summer 2027
For the game's second anniversary, Bandai Namco has detailed its roadmap: a new Tower of Power mode arrives this winter, while a cross-play beta limited to PS5, Xbox Series and PC (Steam) opens after summer 2027.

Two years on, a roadmap into 2027
Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO turns two today, October 11, and Bandai Namco has used the milestone to show what lies ahead in 2026 and 2027. The roadmap, revealed during New York Comic Con and later published on the publisher's European site, includes events, free updates, new modes and more paid characters.
Bandai Namco itself notes that content and timing vary by platform. In practice there are two schedules: one for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, and a slower one for Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.
Tower of Power, solo first
The headline addition is Tower of Power, a challenge mode in which each floor pits players against stronger opponents. Those who reach the top will earn items to customise their fighters' Ki aura, a largely cosmetic reward aimed at players who have already mastered the roster.
On PS5, Xbox Series and PC, the solo version arrives as a free update this winter. The team-up variant is planned for spring 2027: it will let up to five players form an online team, each controlling one character and facing opponents in individual one-on-one fights. New SP variants of Mission 100 and Survival Mode are scheduled for the same window.
Cross-play: a limited beta, without Switch
Cross-play finally has an approximate, if distant, date: it will enter a beta phase after summer 2027, and only on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam. Bandai Namco stresses that the test will be limited and that more details about the full release will follow later.
The small print matters: this is a test, not a general switch-on of the feature, and there is no announced plan yet to include the Switch and Switch 2 versions. The roadmap also reserves a paid DLC with characters yet to be revealed for the same window.
The schedule on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2
Nintendo's consoles will lag behind. This autumn they get their own Legendary Warrior Face-off event, featuring Frieza (Super), while the other platforms get one built around Gogeta (Super). In spring 2027, Switch receives the Mission 100 and Survival Mode updates alongside the paid Super Limit-Breaking NEO DLC, which is already on sale on PS5, Xbox Series and Steam.
The SP versions of those modes and Tower of Power, both solo and team-up, will not reach Switch and Switch 2 until after summer 2027. In other words, Nintendo players will get the new mode several months later than everyone else.
What it means for players
The roadmap leans more on free modes and events than on a large wave of characters: it only reserves a paid DLC with characters yet to be revealed. For PS5, Xbox and PC players, Tower of Power is the nearest milestone. Anyone waiting for cross-play should hold off on plans until Bandai Namco confirms the beta's dates, scope and length.
