March of Giants adds Pandemos, a plague-doctor Giant, to its Pioneer Playtest

Ubisoft has added a new Giant to its free-to-play 4v4 MOBA: Pandemos, a plague doctor who unlocks automatically for players with Pioneer status. The playtest remains open on Steam until October 18, so there is still time to earn him.

A plague doctor on the front line

Pandemos arrived in March of Giants on October 12, according to Ubisoft's official blog. His style revolves around contagion: his abilities spread between allies and enemies, and he performs best in drawn-out team fights against grouped-up opponents. Depending on his item loadout, he can be built to heal, to deal area damage or to control and disrupt the enemy team.

Like every other Giant, he is born from a dream or nightmare of war. In his case, the nightmare of experimentation: during the Century War, the Trench Plagues overwhelmed field hospitals and military doctors turned to increasingly drastic treatments. Fear of those experiments gave shape to Pandemos, who uses the diseases inside his own body both to harm and to heal.

His abilities

Miasmic Flask (Q) throws a flask that damages and slows; if it hits a target, it shatters and spills its contents further down the battle line. Cure Toxin (W) heals an ally or Pandemos himself and grants alchemic resistance before spreading to another target. Phobia Blight (E) is a delayed explosion that deals damage and infects enemies with fear.

His ultimate, The Vector Plague (R), is a plague that bounces between enemies, damaging and slowing them and making them distrusted by their own soldiers. His passive, Afflicted Regiment, infects the soldiers Pandemos rallies around him, who spread the infection when they charge enemy Giants, slowing them and making them more vulnerable to alchemical damage.

How to unlock him before October 18

Pandemos unlocks only for players who already have Pioneer status, earned by reaching 1,000 Pioneer Points. Each completed PvP match is worth 100 points for a win and 50 for a loss, so it takes between 10 and 20 matches depending on results.

There are two ways to speed things up: watching March of Giants on Twitch grants a 20% multiplier, which Ubisoft will raise to 50% in the playtest's final days, and the game's official Discord offers a one-time booster code. To receive Twitch rewards, your Twitch account must be linked to Ubisoft Connect.

Once unlocked, Pandemos stays in your roster permanently: he will remain available for the rest of the Pioneer Playtest, future playtests and Early Access. Pioneer status also grants a profile badge and a free Premium Early Access pack, to be redeemed when that phase begins.

What March of Giants is and how to join the playtest

March of Giants is a free-to-play 4v4 MOBA set against a backdrop inspired by World War I. Each player controls a Giant who commands battalions of soldiers, and the goal is to destroy two of the opponent's three Bastions while defending your own. Battleworks let teams reinforce defences, boost an attack charge or call in reinforcements mid-match.

The Pioneer Playtest runs on Steam from October 7 to 18. To join, request access on the game's Steam page; it is open to North America and select European countries, which Ubisoft does not list in its announcement, and anyone who took part in the September 2025 closed alpha is already invited. Ubisoft plans to launch the game in Early Access in summer 2027; Steam does not yet show a specific date.
