Pokémon TCG Pocket slows down: new booster packs every six weeks from the new series
Pokémon TCG Pocket is slowing down its release schedule. Its operations team announced in a letter published on October 15 that, with the new series starting at the end of the month, booster packs will arrive roughly every six weeks instead of every four, and that the extra time will be filled with more missions, events and features.

Why the schedule is changing
Until now, each booster pack arrived roughly every four weeks. According to the letter from the game’s operations team, many players have said that the large number of cards in each pack up to the B series made it hard to complete collections. With the new roughly six-week cycle, the team hopes more people can build their collections “at their own pace”.
The change comes with the new series, which starts at the end of October 2026 and which outlets such as Polygon are already calling the C series. It also lines up with the game’s second anniversary: it launched on iOS and Android on October 30, 2024. The new series will also introduce dual-type Pokémon. There is no exact date yet for the first pack.
More ways to get cards
To keep those six weeks from dragging, the game will add missions that award immersive cards, the ones that show an animated scene, for completing collections, on top of the ones that already come in packs.
Special Pack: First Partners is also on the way, with cards of the starter Pokémon from all nine regions in the series. These special packs work differently from regular ones: they are opened with their own stamina, which recovers once a week. Finally, there will be weekly missions over three weeks to earn one-star promo cards with illustrations on a shared theme, one for each set of missions completed.
Changes to battles
The Community Decks feature will let you browse decks built by other players in-game, such as popular ones or your friends’ decks, and copy them with your own cards. Rental decks, meanwhile, will be available from the day each pack releases, can be used without limit and will also work in versus battles.
In addition, some time after each release there will be limited battle events with rules restricting which cards can be used. Depending on your number of wins, they will give out battle accessories and promo packs, among other rewards.
Easier trading, and everything subject to change
The team is also working on improvements to trading and sharing, such as being able to see, while trading, cards of any rarity that your partner hasn’t registered yet, and identifying which cards are on your sharing partner’s wishlist.
The letter ends with a caveat: everything described is still in development, so both the content and the timing may change. The team adds that, beyond the end-of-October update, it plans to add new features and ways to play with each pack in the new series.
