Riders Republic is coming to Switch 2 on December 9, with a free weekend first

Riders Republic is turning five, and Ubisoft is marking it in style: the extreme sports game will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, add an offline mode on every platform that same day and, before that, be free to play from October 22 to 26. Belgian DJ Henri PFR is also playing an in-game concert.

Switch 2 on December 9

Ubisoft confirmed the news today, October 20, following its fifth-anniversary livestream: Riders Republic arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on December 9, so players can compete in extreme sports on the go. For now, the publisher hasn’t announced a price for this version or shared details on editions or performance.

Developed by Ubisoft Annecy, Riders Republic launched on October 28, 2021 and, according to Ubisoft, has welcomed more than 17 million players. It’s available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Amazon Luna and PC (Ubisoft Connect, Steam and Epic Games Store), as well as through Ubisoft+.

Offline play for everyone

The Switch 2 version brings a new feature for every platform. With it, and with Steam Deck (where the game is already certified) in mind, the team has built a Nomad mode that lets players keep progressing without an internet connection. From December 9, players will be able to roam the open world solo, work through their careers, unlock landmarks, uncover beauty spots, track down the balloons scattered around the map and keep customizing their character.

Once back online, the game folds everything done offline into the online save, with nothing lost. That said, Riders Republic is still a live game: the shop, season progression, sponsors, multiplayer modes and user-created events will still require a connection.

Free weekend and sale

From October 22 to 26, Riders Republic will be free to play, and anyone who buys it afterwards keeps all their progress. Ubisoft’s announcement doesn’t specify which platforms the trial covers or its start and end times.

For those who want to keep riding, there’s a sale: up to 90% off on the Ubisoft Store through October 26, and up to 80% off on PlayStation and Xbox through November 4.

Henri PFR, live in the game

October 22 also kicks off Henri PFR’s concert. It will play twice a day for two weeks on a giant screen in the Ridge, which has been decorated with a light dome that turns day into night as you step inside. Ubisoft hasn’t said what time the two daily showings will be.

The setlist features his new single Make Love, Sola, and Riders Things, a bespoke remix of the Riders Republic theme. Watching the concert unlocks a special reward, and all three tracks will join the in-game radio from Season 21. It isn’t the game’s first gig, either: French artist Myd played in-game concerts from December 19, 2025 to January 1, 2026, the game’s first music event. Henri PFR is a Brussels-based DJ and producer who entered the world’s Top 100 DJs in 2020.

Events, crossovers and Twitch Drops

There’s more anniversary content. From October 21 to November 4, a developer-made event split into two parts, each focused on different sports, rewards 5th Anniversary skis in week one and a 5th Anniversary BMX in week two. From November 25 to December 9, the Ridge Full Send event brings back every Toy released over the past year.

Other Ubisoft games are joining in too: an Edward Kenway-inspired outfit (Assassin’s Creed), a Rayman BMX and a Globox outfit, the Just Dance panda coach outfit, and snowboards themed on The Crew Motorfest, For Honor, Skull and Bones and Brawlhalla. Watching Riders Republic on Twitch earns a Red Bull snowboard (30 minutes) and the Cube Litening C68X bike (60 minutes).

During the livestream, the team also teased some of what’s coming in the game’s sixth year, though Ubisoft hasn’t shared details in writing.
