Saros Zenith update adds a boss rush, New Game+ and adjustable game speed
Housemarque has released Zenith, a free update for everyone who owns Saros on PS5. It adds a boss mode with leaderboards, a New Game+ mode called Eclipse Layers, 20 new modifiers and several accessibility options, including a way to slow the action down.

Free and available since October 19
The update, patch 02.000.000, went live on Monday, October 19. Writing on the PlayStation Blog, Zenith design lead Abebe Tinari says the studio had two goals: give players who have already mastered the game more reasons to return, and make it more accessible so even more people can discover it.
More accessible, with every projectile intact
The headline option is Slow Game Speed. It slows everything down, including the player, enemies and their projectiles, to give more time to react while the attacks stay the same. Players choose how much the game slows and whether the setting kicks in automatically during combat or is toggled manually when things get hairy.
Auto-fire also arrives, letting the main weapon, the power weapon or both fire automatically when aiming at an enemy. Housemarque stresses that reloading stays manual, so a perfect reload still depends on the player. They’re joined by Motion Sensor Aiming with the DualSense wireless controller and a High Contrast Display mode that highlights the main character and enemies with a solid colour fill, a coloured outline or both.
Eclipse Layers, the new New Game+
Finishing Saros unlocks Eclipse Layers, a tougher version of the game with altered rules. Each layer requires a minimum number of Carcosan Modifiers before a run can start, and each new layer asks for more Trial Modifiers. There are 25 Trials to choose from in total.
Zenith adds 20 modifiers: 10 Protections, which make things easier, and 10 Trials, which make them harder. Half are available on a first playthrough and the other half unlock in Eclipse Layers. Defeating enemies with a modifier equipped also builds Mastery, and with enough of it the modifier is marked as Mastered.
From the second layer, Arjun wears a crown and his armour glows golden. The crown grows bigger and more splendid the more Trials are active and the higher the Modifier Balance goes. It’s also the key to a new collectable: 12 Visions, murals and messages etched in stone by an ancient king and found in the Eclipse Layers. Reading all of their story text requires higher crown levels.
Overlord Rush takes on every boss
The other major addition is Overlord Rush, a back-to-back fight against the game’s bosses, the Overlords, accessed via the Primary Unit in Passage, the game’s hub. It’s split into three sets: Incursion and Ascension feature three bosses each and can be completed in around 10 minutes, while Totality lines up all eight. Times are compared with friends and players around the world on a global leaderboard that can be filtered by main weapon; competing requires an internet connection and a PlayStation account.
Trophies and other changes
Zenith includes six new trophies tied to Overlord Rush, Eclipse Layers and some of the new modifiers. Photo Mode now lets players change Arjun’s facial expression and hide the power weapon, and the patch notes list changes to artifacts and to the cost and damage values of several modifiers.
Saros launched on April 30, 2026, exclusively on PS5.
