Jin Sakai Returns as a Playable Character in Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted

Jin Sakai is returning as the fourth playable character in Ghost of Yōtei: Most Wanted, the new single-player combat survival mode for Ghost of Yōtei. Sucker Punch Productions revealed his inclusion during State of Play and confirmed that the mode arrives on October 1, 2026. Some territories, including Asia, Australia, and New Zealand, will receive it on October 2 through patch 2.0.

Most Wanted uses a roguelike-style progression structure. Players select one of four characters and take escalating bounties from a bounty board. Each bounty focuses on a different member of the Yōtei Six, but players must first fight through enemy waves and minibosses before reaching its final encounter. Completing waves unlocks perks that can be combined into increasingly powerful builds.

Bounties can be replayed at higher difficulty levels, culminating in the toughest bounty against Lord Saito. Players also earn Mon during runs, then spend it outside them on new techniques, weapon upgrades, charms, and character unlocks. Cosmetics earned in Most Wanted will carry over to the main game, including Atsu’s original revenge quest and the Ghost of Yōtei: Echoes of Sekigahara story expansion.

Jin brings back all four stances

The animation and character art teams adapted Jin’s Ghost of Tsushima model for Ghost of Yōtei while aiming to remain faithful to the original. He wields a katana and has access to all four stances from Ghost of Tsushima, allowing him to target enemy weaknesses. His starting gear also includes a Sticky Bomb and a hankyu, or short bow.

Jin’s Ultimate is Dance of Wrath, which targets multiple enemies and disarms them. His Kill Streak is Ghost Stance, which terrifies nearby foes and lets him kill a limited number of them in a single hit.

The other three playable characters are Atsu, Oyuki, and Nagato. Atsu uses dual katanas, Blinding Powder, and a Blind Bomb; her Ultimate summons two wolves, while her Kill Streak frightens nearby enemies. Oyuki fights with a kusarigama, kunai, and a tanegashima rifle, with abilities that enable quick smoke-covered assassinations and temporarily summon a Nine Tails ally. Nagato uses a yari, tanzutsu pistol, yumi long bow, and hankyu short bow, with an Ultimate that guarantees headshots and a Kill Streak that refills Concentration and grants an explosive arrow.

Each character begins with a katana alongside their own weapons, abilities, Ultimates, and Kill Streaks. Perks are Most Wanted’s main build-making tool during runs, with choices covering weapon mastery, gear loadouts, summons, parries, survivability, and more.

Complete Edition and free update details

Most Wanted is included with Ghost of Yōtei Complete Edition. Existing Ghost of Yōtei owners can pre-order the Complete Edition Upgrade for $14.99. It grants access to Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara on October 1, as well as the previously released Digital Deluxe Edition content and the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Pre-orders placed by September 30 will also unlock the Sakai Armor for Atsu early on October 1, without requiring players to earn it through Most Wanted first.

The digital Complete Edition is available now for $69.99. It includes the original game, the online co-op mode Ghost of Yōtei Legends, Digital Deluxe Edition content, the Charm of Hokkyokusei, and access to Most Wanted and Echoes of Sekigahara when they launch. The physical Complete Edition launches October 1. It also adds new Photo Mode stamps, extra New Game Plus cosmetics, and new Trophies for both additions.

The same patch will bring free additions to every Ghost of Yōtei owner, whether or not they purchase the upgrade. These include Beauty of Yōtei, a mode for browsing Ezo’s environments and exploring them in Photo Mode; new Watanabe Mode tracks; an option to retain one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s stats; and a high-contrast accessibility setting.
