What we know

Shape of Dreams is now available on Xbox Series X|S, launching into Xbox Game Pass on day one. Its console debut arrives alongside The Starless Path, described by the team as the game’s biggest update so far; all of its content is included for Xbox players from the start.

The action roguelite can be played solo or in online co-op for up to four players. It also supports cross-play from its Xbox launch, allowing Xbox users to team up with each other and friends on other platforms.

The Starless Path brings Cetus and a new ending

The update introduces Cetus, a new ranged Traveler who harnesses frost from within his body. He can build up frost for explosive attacks, create huge glaciers to control the battlefield, and protect allies. Depending on a player’s build, Cetus can fill several roles, from a back-line burst-damage mage to a sturdier melee fighter.

Also arriving is the Way of Stars, an expansion to progression for each Traveler. As players use a character, that Traveler’s episodes connect like a constellation, unlocking illustrations, exclusive emotes, and hidden stories. Following this path far enough opens a new ending, a new adventure, and a more powerful final boss.

The Starless Path further adds six shared Identity Memories, which reveal secrets of the Rapids and can replace a Traveler’s core playstyle. Heroic bosses gain additional attack patterns at higher difficulty levels as well.

A year of additions is included on Xbox

According to NEOWIZ, Shape of Dreams originally launched on Steam in September 2025 and has since passed 1.5 million players. The Xbox edition incorporates the improvements made across that first year of updates.

Those additions include Limbo, an endgame difficulty beyond Nightmare; new shrines and rewards that give players more control over their builds; a full critical-strike rework; and balance changes to Memories and Essences. The studio also says this version includes its continued performance and stability work.

The game is built around runs that change each time, with Memories serving as abilities and Essences altering and combining them. There are more than 200 Memories and Essences, while its Travelers have distinct weapons, abilities, and combat rhythms.

Xbox players, including Game Pass members, can also claim the Crimson Flash Lacerta console bonus costume in-game at no additional purchase.
