What we know

Arrowhead announced the Warbond on October 13 on the official PlayStation Blog and on the game's Steam news channel, alongside a trailer. According to Arrowhead, the Ministry of Defense will authorize its deployment on October 20, and its contents are designed for shooting from afar and staying out of sight.

Scope of Authority arrives almost a month after Ironclad Democracy, the Premium Warbond that launched on September 22 with a focus on heavy equipment and vehicles.

Five weapons for long-range fights

The centrepiece is the R-40 Sightliner, a bolt-action sniper rifle used as a primary weapon that pairs armour-piercing rounds with long-range precision. For when enemies close in, the Warbond includes the P-44 Mist, a compact one-handed machine pistol.

The AMW-20 Apex is a colossal anti-materiel rifle fed from a backpack, with assisted reload. Arrowhead presents it as a more powerful, more armour-penetrating weapon designed for the largest and most heavily armoured foes.

The LAS family of energy weapons gains the LAS-44 Nova, a rifle with infinite ammo, like others of its type, that fires a high-precision non-explosive thermal projectile after a short charge cycle. The studio says a new optimization routine improves its cooldown. Finally, when thrown, the G-11 Caltrops scatter a wide field of proximity-detonated submunitions that slow and stun enemies.

Camouflage armour and the Stationary Shroud passive

The Warbond brings two armour sets. The SS-33 Mimetic Marshal is light armour inspired by snipers' ghillie suits, with light-diffusing netting and adaptive fibres; it comes with the Mimetic Mesh cape and a matching player card. The SS-15 Focal Point is medium armour with integrated adaptive camouflage, optics and an asymmetrical visor, paired with the Boundary Banner cape and its player card.

Both share the Stationary Shroud passive, which reduces weapon sway and enemy detection range while you are crouched or prone, mimicking the concealment of foliage. The Manual Ballistic Projection emote and the Longshot title round out the contents.

What you need to unlock it

Like other Premium Warbonds, Scope of Authority requires the base game, Super Credits and in-game progression to unlock. Arrowhead does not say in its announcement how many Super Credits it will cost.

Helldivers 2 is available on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X|S, and the announcement gives a single date, October 20, without distinguishing between platforms.
