What we know

We Were Here Tomorrow is coming to Xbox Series X|S in October. Total Mayhem Games has paired the announcement with a new trailer focused on Norček Industries, the strange retro-futuristic facility at the center of the new co-op adventure.

The story begins with two explorers searching Antarctica for missing members of their expedition. After an incident on the ice, they wake up inside the Norček Industries facility with little memory of how they got there. Director Kathleen Bowe, a scientist who now oversees the organization, asks for their help in continuing the work of a missing research team before a global crisis unfolds.

Norček is investigating a mysterious interdimensional rift that sits at the heart of its work. As players move deeper into the complex, they will uncover more about Bowe, the corporation, and the unusual events affecting the world around them.

Asymmetric co-op, communication, and time shifts

The new trailer previews several areas of the facility and the different kinds of teamwork they demand. In the Greenhouse, an area containing references to earlier We Were Here adventures, the two players do not experience the same location at the same point in time: one is in the past, while the other is in the future. Actions in one era can alter what the partner finds in the other, while the ability to swap time periods makes players consider the consequences of every move.

The walkie-talkie will again be essential. Players need to describe what they see, compare the information available in their respective versions of the environment, and experiment together to work out how their actions connect.

Not every challenge keeps the pair fully apart. The Office of Tomorrow features shared spaces where gravity and architecture do not behave as expected. According to Total Mayhem Games Creative Director Martín Mittner, these rooms expand the series’ co-op formula by letting both players navigate and test possibilities together without losing their reliance on one another.

The Optics Lab, meanwhile, uses a more traditional structure for the series. Players can see each other but are not physically in the same space, and each has different information. Solving its puzzle requires clear communication to establish the correct sequence of laser refractions. The studio identifies it as one of the more difficult puzzles in the first act.

Later in the adventure, crossing the rift takes the explorers to an area called Beyond the Rift, a location the team intends to preserve as a deliberate step into the unknown.

We Were Here Tomorrow will continue to center on two roles with different tools and information, designed to overcome obstacles neither player could solve alone. It launches for Xbox Series X|S in October.
