FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION Launches April 8, 2027 for PS5, Switch 2, Xbox and PC
Square Enix has dated the conclusion to the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake trilogy, with physical and digital editions and new exploration and combat options planned.

What we know
Square Enix will release FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION on April 8, 2027. Described as the final entry in the FINAL FANTASY VII Remake trilogy, it will be available both physically and digitally for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
The announcement arrived alongside a third trailer and gameplay footage. Square Enix describes Revelation as the series’ largest-scale adventure, with players able to travel around the planet aboard the Highwind airship and explore its regions.
More flexible exploration and expanded combat
Exploration will also feature Pico, a chocobo companion that travels with the party. As Pico grows, its movement and combat capabilities will improve. Players will also be able to freely switch the controlled character and party members while out in the field.
A new Wire Gun action can be used at specific points to move quickly through areas with differences in elevation. Quest outcomes can also change depending on which eligible character the player chooses to use. The Queen’s Blood card game is set to receive new stories and systems as well.
Combat continues to blend real-time action and command selection, now adding Cid and Vincent as playable characters. The new WEAR system lets players equip characters with one of four wear types—warrior, knight, black mage, and summoner—changing their battlefield role and abilities.
Editions, pre-orders, and post-launch content
Square Enix is planning Standard, Deluxe, and Collector’s physical editions for PS5 and Nintendo Switch 2. Physical copies will require an internet connection to download additional data. The Switch 2 physical release will use a Game-Key Card, and the initial game download will require an internet connection and more than 130 GB of free space.
The Collector’s Edition includes a figure, mini soundtrack, mini art book, steelbook case, and the Story Expansion Pass, among other items. The pass contains accessories and items, plus two story DLC releases: one featuring Sephiroth and another featuring Vincent and the Turks. Square Enix plans to release them in stages from winter 2027 through around spring 2028, and they will also be available for individual purchase after launch.
Digital Standard, Premium, and Premium Plus editions are planned for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The latter two include 24-hour early access to the base game and the Story Expansion Pass, while Premium Plus adds digital extras including a mini soundtrack and art book. Nintendo Switch 2 digital pre-orders will open at a later date.
Digital pre-orders on the listed platforms will receive the Mecha Chocobo & Moogle Summoning Materia. Early physical purchases, while supplies last, will include a Magic: The Gathering—FINAL FANTASY “Final Showdown” promo card as well as the Sniper Eye accessory and Shinra Bangle Type III armor.
A digital trilogy edition containing FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE INTERGRADE, FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH, and FINAL FANTASY VII REVELATION will also be available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. Players who pre-order it can download and play the first two games immediately.
