Final Fantasy VII Revelation launches on PS5 April 8, 2027

What we know

Square Enix has announced that Final Fantasy VII Revelation will launch for PlayStation 5 on April 8, 2027. The date was confirmed during a PlayStation State of Play presentation, which also debuted new gameplay footage.

Revelation is positioned as the final entry in the Final Fantasy VII Remake Series, following Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

Exploration, combat, and party choices

The game will feature a large-scale open world that players can explore using the Highwind airship. Chocobo companion Piko also returns, functioning as both a mount and a combat partner. Piko will develop alongside the party, gaining abilities that support travel and battles.

Combat introduces the Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear system, or FITS. Players can tailor their approach through uniforms with distinct move sets. The four FITS specializations are Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner. They alter party members’ abilities and roles in combat, while also changing their appearance.

Revelation will let players instantly switch between party members while exploring. Traversal is also being expanded with a grappling gun for quickly scaling rooftops and moving through the city.

Players will be able to choose which party member handles certain quests. Those selections affect particular story events and gameplay situations, allowing some narrative experiences to play out differently depending on the chosen character.

Queen’s Blood returns with a Red XIII story

The Queen’s Blood card-game minigame is returning with a new storyline centered on Red XIII. Its campaign will introduce new opponents and challenges that build on the game’s strategic systems, including rivals that can significantly change the course of a match.

Pre-orders and Premium Editions

Pre-orders are now available through PlayStation Store. Pre-ordering any edition grants the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia.

The Premium Edition includes the base game, the Story Expansion Pass, and 24-hour early access. It also comes with the Reclaimant Choker accessory and a set of consumable items intended for the early part of the journey. The pass provides access to two story-focused DLC releases, with further details planned for a later date.

The Premium Plus Edition includes all Premium Edition content, plus a digital art book, digital mini soundtrack, Polydroid Alexander Summon Materia, Nymphwing Bracelet armor, and the Risk Taker’s Choker accessory.
