Xbox Game Pass adds Gears of War: E-Day, Minecraft Dungeons II, and Dune: Awakening

What we know

Xbox has outlined the second September wave for Game Pass, with additions running through October 6. The update includes day-one releases for Minecraft Dungeons II and Gears of War: E-Day, as well as Dune: Awakening, the arrival of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on Game Pass Premium, and eight games leaving the library at the end of the month.

The first new addition is already available. RuneScape: Dragonwilds joined on September 15 across Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC for Game Pass Ultimate, Game Pass Premium, and PC Game Pass members. It is a co-op survival adventure set on Ashenfall, a forgotten RuneScape continent where dragons have awakened.

September additions

Four games join Game Pass Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass on September 16: beat ’em up Marvel Cosmic Invasion, sci-fi adventure Planet of Lana II, first-person horror game Routine, and bike-racing and course-building party game Ultimate Sheep Raccoon. They will be available across Cloud, console, and PC according to their listed platforms, with several also supporting handheld play.

Kernel Hearts arrives on September 17 as a day-one release for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It combines action RPG and roguelike elements, offers optional co-op, and lets players choose between four magical characters. Also on September 17, Ninja Gaiden 4 launches for Game Pass Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass across Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC.

Dune: Awakening will be available on September 22 for Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. The single-player and multiplayer open-world survival game will arrive on Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, handheld, and PC. Also launching day one that date is Well Dweller, a dark fairy-tale metroidvania for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

The schedule continues with Mad King Redemption on September 23 for Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass. It combines traditional beat ’em up action, roguelite progression, and pixel art in a 2.5D world. On September 25, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will become available with Game Pass Premium, in addition to Ultimate and PC Game Pass, across Cloud, console, handheld, and PC.

Minecraft Dungeons II and Gears of War: E-Day close out the wave

Minecraft Dungeons II arrives on September 29 as a day-one title for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. It will be available on Cloud, console, handheld, and PC. The sequel takes players into the Sift, a new dimension featuring unexplored lands, unfamiliar threats, and more ways to customize gear.

Keeper joins Game Pass Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass on October 2 for Cloud, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It is a wordless story about an awakened lighthouse that sets off on a journey with a seabird.

The wave concludes on October 6 with Gears of War: E-Day, launching day one for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on Xbox Series X|S, handheld, PC, and Cloud. Its origin-story campaign is set 14 years before the first Gears of War and follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago on Emergence Day, when the Locust Horde first erupts from below.

For Game Pass players, the release provides day-one access through the Ultimate and PC Game Pass tiers, while its inclusion in Game Pass Premium has not been announced.

Updates, perks, and departing games

Xbox also noted that Moonlighter 2: The Endless Vault, which joined on September 2, is now available on Xbox Series X|S and Cloud Gaming through Game Pass Premium, Ultimate, and PC Game Pass. Meanwhile, 5v5 football game Rematch will join Game Pass Essential on September 25; it is already included with Ultimate, Premium, and PC Game Pass.

Among the updates, Sea of Thieves Season 21 launches on September 17. A free play weekend will run from September 17 to 21 without a subscription requirement, followed by a Talk Like a Pirate Day Parley Event. EA Sports FC 27 will receive an EA Play early access trial on console and PC starting September 18.

Ultimate, Premium, Essential, and PC Game Pass members will also receive a Brawlhalla perks pack on September 17, containing the Kill Thrill Hattori Skin, Hattori Legend Unlock, and Regal Sun Sword Weapon Skin.

Finally, eight games leave Game Pass on September 30: Atomfall, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Little Nightmares 2 Enhanced Edition, Little Rocket Lab, Sifu, SOPA Tale of the Stolen Potato, Sworn, and Terminull Brigade.
