What we know

Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold, The Coalition has announced. The milestone means the game’s main development is complete as the studio moves into the final stretch before release.

Pre-installs will open on September 29 at 15:00 UTC across Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam. Both pre-order customers and Game Pass players will be able to download the game ahead of time, ensuring it is ready when access opens.

Early Access starts on October 1 at 15:00 UTC, followed by the worldwide launch on October 6 at 15:00 UTC. Premium Edition owners can play up to five days early, while Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members will gain access on the full launch date.

PC platforms and specifications

E-Day is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and Steam, and will be available on day one through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Xbox Wire has also released the game’s complete, final PC specifications.

The Coalition says it has continued improving PC stability and performance across a broad range of hardware setups since July’s multiplayer Open Beta. The supplied announcement text does not list those requirements directly, but confirms that the final launch specifications are now available.

The campaign follows Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during Emergence Day, 14 years before the original Gears of War, as the Locust Horde erupts from underground. Alongside the story campaign, the game will feature Horde Siege, a reworked cooperative wave-survival mode, and a Versus PvP offering built around 4v4 modes.

The game is built in Unreal Engine 5. Xbox also lists support for 4K resolution and up to 60 FPS in both Campaign and Multiplayer, with a compatible display required.
