What we know

PlayStation has revealed the Pulse Wireless Headset and Pulse Edge Wireless Headset, two new PS5-focused wireless audio products. Pulse will begin launching in select markets during the 2026 holiday season, while Pulse Edge is set to follow in early 2027.

Both headsets use custom, studio-inspired planar magnetic drivers. PlayStation says the hardware is intended to provide sound separation and spatial precision, helping players identify directional cues such as footsteps and reloads in competitive shooters. The new models also use larger planar drivers to deliver fuller, deeper bass while retaining clear sound.

Shared connectivity, microphones, and design

Both headsets support PlayStation Link for lossless, ultra-low-latency audio. Players can switch between supported devices including PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac, while also connecting simultaneously to supported Bluetooth devices.

Pulse and Pulse Edge feature integrated microphones with AI-enhanced noise rejection to filter background sound during voice chat. Their revised design is intended to improve long-term comfort and durability, with rotating earcups that let the headsets lie flat for easier carrying. Both will be available in White and Midnight Black.

Pulse Edge adds active noise cancellation and premium features

Pulse Edge is the premium option of the two. Its planar drivers use eight magnets each, double the four magnets used in Pulse. PlayStation says this is designed to produce richer, deeper bass while preserving precision and subtle audio detail.

The headset includes active noise cancellation to reduce unwanted ambient sound, along with a detachable boom microphone for voice chat. A hidden microphone remains available when the boom mic is removed. It also adds built-in PS5 game-audio and chat-balance controls, an audio/microphone jack, premium materials, and a carrying case.

Pulse, meanwhile, includes a USB Type-C PlayStation Link adapter, as does Pulse Edge, plus built-in volume controls and an integrated microphone with AI noise rejection.

PlayStation has not announced pricing, exact release dates, or preorder dates for either headset yet.
