What we know
PlayStation has announced the return of State of Play and State of Play Japan on Thursday, September 3, 2026. The two presentations will air back-to-back, beginning at 6:00 a.m. PT / 9:00 a.m. ET / 3:00 p.m. CEST / 10:00 p.m. JST.
The first State of Play will bring updates and announcements from PlayStation Studios and third-party partners. It will close with an extended look at the expansive world of Final Fantasy VII Revelation from Square Enix.
A new State of Play Japan episode will follow immediately afterward, once again hosted by Yuki Kaji. That broadcast will focus on upcoming games from studios in Japan and across Asia, with deeper dives, new gameplay, announcements, and further updates.
Both broadcasts will be streamed live on YouTube and Twitch. State of Play will be presented in English with Japanese subtitles, while State of Play Japan will be in Japanese with English subtitles.
PlayStation also noted that the shows may contain copyrighted material, including licensed music, which could affect co-streams and VOD archives because of licensing agreements outside Sony Interactive Entertainment’s control. Creators planning recap videos or reposted clips and segments are advised to leave out copyrighted music.
