Xbox at Tokyo Game Show 2026: Announcements, Dates, and Hideo Kojima’s Appearance

Xbox closed its Tokyo Game Show 2026 broadcast with an appearance from Hideo Kojima and a broad slate of announcements from Activision, Bethesda, Kojima Productions, Koei Tecmo, Sega, and other studios. The presentation featured 17 new gameplay reveals and announcements, a surprise release, and a world premiere.

The immediate surprise was Shape of Dreams, which is available now on Xbox Series X|S and launched into Game Pass on day one. The roguelite supports four-player co-op and has cross-play at launch, allowing Xbox players to join friends on other available platforms.

Dates for Modern Warfare 4, Once Human, and Persona 4 Revival

Activision debuted a new campaign trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, due on October 23, 2026. Players who pre-order the Standard Digital Edition or Vault Edition will receive campaign early access starting October 16. The trailer places Price on the run as war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula and a devastating weapon risks falling into the wrong hands.

Once Human: Ocean Expansion: Isles of Abyss also received a date. The free expansion, described as the game’s biggest content update to date, launches on October 22, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and will be included with Game Pass. It adds full ship building, survival across islands and the ocean, deep-sea exploration, and endgame boss encounters.

Atlus introduced Naoto Shirogane in a new character trailer for Persona 4 Revival. The remake launches on February 18, 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and cloud, and will be included with Game Pass. It will support Xbox Play Anywhere.

Meanwhile, Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember revealed a battle against the demon Zuochi. It launches on March 4, 2027 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and cloud with Xbox Play Anywhere support. Its Alpha Demo is available through September 30, and completing it unlocks the Fledgling Phoenix Helmet in the full game at launch.

Kojima confirms PHYSINT’s lead actor

After the broadcast appeared to be over, Hideo Kojima took the stage to share updates on OD – KNOCK and PHYSINT. Kojima confirmed that Swedish actor and producer Bill Skarsgård will play the lead role in PHYSINT. A new poster was also shown featuring Skarsgård and Charlee Fraser.

The broadcast also included the world premiere of Faraday Blues, Serenity Forge’s surreal sci-fi adventure. It follows a daughter searching for parents who do not know she exists. Players use character cards to rewrite tragic decisions across three connected visual novels, with choices carrying over through three eras and visual styles. The game will feature 64 endings and is coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and cloud with Xbox Play Anywhere.

More Xbox catalog updates

Bethesda released an animated trailer for Fallout 76: The Slasher, an update that is available now for all players. It introduces an eerie multi-week storyline in which an emergency broadcast leads players to investigate a series of masked murders. Rewards include a unique Power Armor set and the Super Slasher weapon.

Netmarble showed additional gameplay from Bloomwalker, now confirmed as part of the Ni No Kuni universe. Its trailer introduced the Pocket Dimension, an area inside the Moving House where players can build structures and customize the environment alongside Familiars and Higgledies. It is coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere.

Sega confirmed that Japan will be one of the locations in Crazy Taxi: World Tour, which is set to arrive in 2027 on Xbox Series X|S. Players will be able to explore its streets freely, meet local residents, and collect souvenirs.

Other newly dated releases include action-JRPG Edge of Memories, arriving on November 5, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S, and narrative mystery Hope in the City, due on November 10, 2026 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere.

Xbox also showed new gameplay for Bloodstained: The Scarlet Engagement, due in 2027; GACHIAKUTA: BREAKOUT, coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC in 2027; Genigods: Nezha; Raji: Kaliyuga; and Wo Long 2: Wings of Ember. For Raji: Kaliyuga, Nodding Heads outlined the shift from the first game’s isometric perspective to a third-person action-adventure format. It is planned for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, and cloud, included with Game Pass and supported by Xbox Play Anywhere.

Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories also confirmed the return of Rutger and Lenja from Atelier Yumia, who will support Karia in her new adventure. The game can now be wishlisted on Xbox Series X|S.

Together, the announcements strengthen Xbox’s release slate for the coming months and 2027, spanning day-one Game Pass releases, updates available now, and projects from Japanese and international publishers across console, PC, and cloud.
