Xbox Game Pass cloud gaming will get monthly hour limits in November
Ultimate will include 15 hours a month, Premium 10, and Essential 5. Xbox will also let players buy cloud playtime without a Game Pass subscription.

What we know
Xbox will change how cloud gaming is included with Game Pass in November. Each plan will move to a monthly cloud-play allowance: 15 hours for Game Pass Ultimate, 10 hours for Game Pass Premium, and 5 hours for Game Pass Essential.
Eligible subscribers can currently stream without monthly hour caps. Xbox acknowledges that introducing limits is a significant shift, particularly for people who regularly play through the cloud, but says it expects the change to affect 4% of Game Pass subscribers.
After using the hours included with their plan, subscribers will be able to buy extra cloud playtime through the Xbox Store. Available hour amounts, purchase options, and cloud gaming features may differ by market. Xbox says it will provide pricing and further details before the change takes effect.
Cloud gaming without Game Pass
November will also bring a way to use Xbox Cloud Gaming without a Game Pass subscription. Players will be able to purchase cloud playtime hours from the Xbox Store and stream eligible games they own on supported devices.
Xbox presents the option as an alternative for players seeking occasional cloud access or those who do not want a recurring Game Pass subscription. Cloud gaming can also allow Xbox One owners to access eligible games made for Xbox Series X|S without an immediate hardware upgrade. The company says it will continue adding cloud support for more games over the year.
Xbox says the new model responds to the rising cost of delivering cloud gaming as both usage and playtime increase. Monthly limits are intended to keep the service available while allowing continued investment in reliability and performance, though the company acknowledges that some players may see a higher practical cost.
More information on pricing, additional-hour purchases, eligible games, market availability, and checking remaining time is due in November. Xbox also says it will listen to player feedback before and after the change takes effect, and will share any adjustments it makes.
